Eureka! Absence Explained.

It dawned on me last night.... yes, crazy at it sounds... because I really ought to have realized this a looooong time ago, but Nooooooo, it hadn't once dawned on me.... until last night, that my absences from Blog World is a result of my obsessions.

Obsessions???? you ask. Yes, Obsessions. Yes, I realize that my blog's called, My Delightful Obsessions, which means that I'm supposed to be sharing my obsessions with my readers, right? Well, yes. That's my intent.

And if I weren't half as obsessive as I am, I would likely share all of my obsessions with everyone here. Please don't take this the wrong way. I want to share. I really do. Problem is, I get so caught up and wrapped up in my obsessions that it literally consumes all of my time - which explains my absences from my blog.

What the $#@% is she talking about, you ask yourself? Let me explain.

Recently, I've been on a bit of a hunt to find myself THE perfect gift. Yes, me..... for me. Why you ask? Well, firstly, by the end of the year, we'll be mortgage free. Whoooo Hoooooo! Secondly, it's my birthday Saturday.

Mathematically the equation goes like this: Soon to have No Mortgage + Birthday = Big Present For Me.

So I started shopping... online, that is. For years, I've told Honey that the first thing I'd buy when we're Mortgage Free, is a Chanel Jumbo Caviar Flap Bag. It's not that I couldn't afford to buy one all this time, ... it just that I think spending $3K on a handbag is just not that practical when there's other things that we ought to be saving our money for .... like our Mortgage, Kitty's private school fees, property tax (which by the way is almost $5K annually for our home), RRSPs, etc. So, I decided that I would only look at buying my Chanel as a treat for myself once our home was paid off.

So in the last week, while looking for Chanels, the Hermes Birkin caught my attention. One of the Yummy Mummies at my daughter's school has a Birkin. I really want a Birkin, I tell myself.... a Blue Jean Birkin. That'll look great on me! .... or so I thought, until I saw the price. $17K for a Birkin 35!

OMG! I cannot justify spending $17K on a Birkin. That's one year of private school for Kitty. Hmmmmm.... maybe Kitty can go to public school for Grade 5. Mommy gets the Birkin and then Kitty can go back for Grade 6. Hey, this can work.... NOT!

WELL.... since we're at the $17K mark now, I thought to myself, why buy a bag when I can buy a Time Share. So, that's where I've been spending my time. I've spent the last 3 days doing just that... Researching Time Shares. I have decided that I want to buy a Time Share. That or a Porsche Cayenne S but since my car is still in awesome shape and since Honey is going to be buying a new vehicle next year anyway, I've decided that:

Soon to have No Mortgage + Birthday = Timeshare

Knowing how fickle I am and how quickly I change my mind, I'm sure that it's only a matter of time before I decide that a Time Shares is not what I want. But for now... I want a Time Share... specifically, a Starwood Timeshare. Where? I'm not sure yet. But I want to go abouts finding me a Timeshare in the most practical and business-like way possible.

So on the topic of my latest obsession, do you own a timeshare? What do you think of it? Do you love it, hate it? If you had to do it all over again, would you have gotten it?

WTF????? Double Crystal Bangle from J Crew

I was just looking at my Double Crystal Bangle that I purchased from J Crew. I haven't had this bangle for a year and I've just noticed that 10 of the 24 crystals have fallen off.

So that we are all on the same page, I don't wear this bangle very often. I might wear it once a month at most. And it's not like I sit around and bang my fist on the table all day - thus damaging my bangle.

Luckily, I know I didn't pay much for it... from what I can remember, I think I paid under $20 but come on! This is ridiculous that I've lost almost half of all the crystals!

Has this happened to anyone else?

Feeling Blah!

I'm feeling Blah!

Just Blah!

Nothing seems to be exciting me.... nothing! I spent 4 hours walking around at the mall yesterday. I went to the mall with the intention on getting at least a pair of shoes, a couple of skirts and possibly some boots.

I spent 5 hours trying on skirt after skirt, a ton of shoes, and boots, and a bunch of other things that were not on my list and left the mall with SQUAT! That's right. I left without buying a single thing. I bought ZILCH!

Nothing was inspiring me. Nothing was talking to me. I came sooo close to buying a pair of shoes as well as a darling pair of ankle booties but ended up walking away from them.... without feeling any remorse for leaving them behind. Sad really!

This Blahness is great for my wallet but so unexciting for such a new fashion season.

Am I the only one feeling blah?

J Crew Storybook Charm Bracelet vs. Aldo's Gulbrandsen

While reading my blogs this morning, I came across a Post in JCrewAficionada's Blog here about the return (or sorta return) of the Storybook Charm Bracelet. I was extremely intrigued so I called the nearest Aldo store, had them place it on hold for me and literally ran out the door to pick it up.

I fell in love with the J Crew version when it was first introduced. But at $125, I could not justify keeping it. After hanging on to it for about 5 months (of which I honestly did not wear it for it still had all the tags on), I finally returned it.

So, when I found out that Aldo had a version identical to J Crew's, I knew I had to have it.

Now that I have it in my hands, while they are almost identical from afar (meaning from pictures), they are certainly NOT the same bracelet. Let me explain:

  1. Charm sizes are the same but the finish is not as perfect as J Crew's.

  2. Starburst Flower on J Crew's is covered with pearls. Aldo's has no pearls. It simply has the ring of pink balls with a white center ball. The center ball on J Crew's is a little pearl.

  3. The center of Daisy Flower is painted on while the J Crew version is an actual bead.

  4. The stone used for the body of the bee in J Crew's offering is an actual 2-tone stone of purple and yellow stripes. On the Aldo version, the yellow stripes are painted on the stone.

  5. The clasp is not as fancy as J Crew's. I personally love the look of the Nautical Clasp versus Aldo's Lobster Clasp.

So, what did I do?

I BOUGHT IT OF COURSE!!! And.... not just one bracelet, but TWO! I bought Two Bracelets.

So you're probably wondering why the hell did I buy the bracelet, let alone 2 despite all the differences? Well, for starters, the bracelet is only $19.99 (yes, it's slightly more expensive in Canada). Secondly, who the heck is going to know (okay besides myself and all of my readers) that I have a J Crew Storybook Charm Bracelet Knockoff? If anyone were to ever ask, I'd tell them the truth. I cheaped out and got mine from Aldo's. Finally, Aldo's was having a 2 for 1 sale. I got 2 bracelets for $19.99. That's $9.995 each. You can't beat that, that's for sure!

And just in case the first one breaks, I'll have a back-up and whenever I get tired of it, I could always re-design it.

So, to everyone reading this, if you don't already own the J Crew Storybook Bracelet and want an inexpensive copy, RUN! Don't walk! to your nearest Aldo store or failing that, order it online. (Sorry, online does not have a 2 for 1 sale).

Would you be ordering an Aldo Knockoff?

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and... Bubble Tea

I'd miss Kitty soooooo very much when she was off at Outdoor School last week. She spent 3 nights away from home and when she got home, all I wanted to do was to spend time with her. She really wanted to go see the new 3D movie - Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and so we went. Kitty, Grandma and I.

If you haven't had a chance to see it, you should! It's an awesome movie! The premise of the movie is this. Little boy who's constantly teased at school eventually grows up to be a Scientist (well sorta). He's a Scientist alright... but not good enough to work for Nasa. He's constantly building new inventions which don't quite work the way he wants it to work. He finally develops a machine that turns water into food. Awesome, right??? I'd love to have one of those. Problem is, through a freak accident, it ends up in space and that's where all hell breaks loose.

Kitty loved the movie. She loved everything about it... particularly the 3D animation! I love going to movies with her because I love watching her reaction and throughout the entire movie, she was sitting on the edge of her seat ... concentrating more on the movie than her popcorn.

So, if you haven't seen it or are contemplating seeing it, I highly recommend this movie. It's perfect for the young and the young at heart!

After the movie, Kitty wanted Bubble Tea. If you haven't experienced Bubble Tea, it's certainly an experience. Kitty dragged me to Bubble Orange - a bright and colorful store offering over 100 Flavors of Tea and an assortment of different bubbles.

I've never had Bubble Tea before but she obviously has for she promptly ordered a Fresh Mango Slushy with Pearls and Coconut Jelly. Being one for new things, I ordered the exact same thing while Grandma ordered the Taro Milk Slush with Pearls.

The drinks arrive in a tall soft plastic tumbler sealed with plastic. At the bottom of the tumbler are black balls - that remind me of very large tadpole eggs and translucent white bits (both these things at the bottom really didn't look very appetizing), topped off with a bright yellow slush. Grandma's was essentially the same (sans the white bits) and topped off with a lavender colored milk-shake. (I later found out that Grandma was the one who had introduced Kitty to Bubble Tea).

I was a little hesitant in trying but since Kitty was happily sucking on a large straw (large enough to accomodate those Tadpole egg-like black balls), I punched a hole into the top film color with my straw and took my first taste.

It's Yummy! In fact, it's better than Yummy! It's sweet, refreshing, decadent. It's absolutely delicious! It's basically a fruit shake with jelly and stuff. I later find out that the black stuff is actually sweeted Tapioca Balls and the Coconut jelly is Coconut Jello. While it's delicious, I did however, find it somewhat expensive. Considering that it's essentially a milk-shake, I found it to be pricey at $4.50 / glass.

Now that I've discovered it, Kitty and I have decided to treat ourselves to a Bubble Tea once a month. (I don't think that they're light in Calories).

Have you ever tasted Bubble Tea? Do you like it? What's your favorite flavor? If you haven't, would you be inclined to try it?

I'm Baaaaack!

Oh My Gosh! I cannot believe that I haven't blogged for a month. So what have I been up to?

Well... let's see. We went travelled, Kitty went back to school and is now in Grade 4, I redecorated Kitty's room, I got very very ill and spent 10 days in bed, and am in the midst of planning our next vacation.

It's been a little crazy and I apologize for not being around. Please do check back soon. I will be blogging about our travels, Kitty's Room Reno, Kitty's Outdoor School experience, my illness and our new vacation. Additionally, I've got 2 new amazing giveaways.

But before I sign off for the day, I thought I would post a picture of myself. Sorry that I've got my sunglasses on. I enjoy being anonomous only because of my and my husband's professions.

Have a wonderful evening and I promise, I will write more soon!
