Welcome New Friends, MIA, Today's Outfit and Kitty's Year End Concert

Before I go start ranting, I would like to welcome my new readers - My Blonde Reality; just.me; kadensmommy; Margarita; Kate; Joie De Vivre; LISA (DOMESTIC DIVA) and mim (who's recently won my Saje Giveaway - Congratulations!) Welcome to my blog ! I hope you'll enjoy reading my sometimes boring and sometimes crazy life.

I apologize for being MIA lately. My life's been a little crazy...With the departure of my boss (whom I truly admire and have a lot of respect for), it's been a lot crazier at the office but that's not even the half of it. What's crazy is the stuff outside the office - like running Kitty to baseball and helping her with her book-report (the latest one was re-writing the ending to a Nancy Drew Mystery novel and then creating a comic strip to go with it) ..... AND she's only in Grade 3. Needless to say, I'm very proud of her for she wrote a fantastic new ending to her mystery novel and did a fabulous job on her comic strip. I know that when I was her age, I certainly wasn't capable of doing what she's doing currently.

And then there's the shopping that I shouldn't really be doing - but The Hudson Bay Company (The Bay) was having a phenomenal sale on swimsuits that I couldn't help but break my shopping ban and go shopping. I went during my lunch hour yesterday. The Bay was an absolute nut-house when I arrived. I didn't realize that SOOOOOO many women had also seen the ad in the paper about all swimsuits up to $99 would be $19.99! Well! The line up for the fitting rooms (in the swimsuit department as well as all of the other fitting rooms on the floor) were 12 deep. I waited about 20 minutes to get into a fitting room and then I was told that I could only bring 7 in. What the %$#@!!!!! 7??? That works out to 3 bikini tops, and 4 bikini bottoms. Simply $#@%ing stupid if you were to ask me. But 7 was what I brought in. Since I wasn't about to throw all of my clothes back on in order to get another 7 pieces in, I decided to wear a bikini, open the door, give the sales clerk my 5 tried-on pieces in exchange for 7 more. She then says to me, "7? But you're only returning me 5. Where's the other 2?" Of which I looked at her and said, "They're on me. I don't feel like standing her buck naked" URGH! What's wrong with her??? All these bad words and phrases were racing through my mind!!! Anyway, I do this trading of swimsuits about 4 times and thinking that she's given me everything I have to try on, I get changed and come out. She then says to me, "... but you still have 3 more to try on!" I almost told her to jump into a dry lake head first, but refrained. Anyway, I ended up buying 4 swimsuits - 3 bikinis and 1 tankini for when I have to sit in the hot-tub.

Anyway, that was yesterday. Today too was another crazy day. I started off the day wearing this outfit. I've been searching everywhere for the perfect white blouse to wear with my Club Monaco Skirt and finally found it in the Tuxedo Front Blouse which I did a review here. This is the Club Monaco skirt I had blogged about here. You know, the one that I had purchased 5 times over? Yes, I purchased this skirt (not this very skirt but this style) 5 times over. I was in-love with the skirt but could not justify paying the original price for it. And every time I brought it back, it got marked down further. Anyway, I finally get it for $49.99 and then it proceeded to sit in my closet until today when I decided to wear it. I had it on, took my "Today's Outfit" picture, had breakfast and then spilt my cereal on it. So, I ended up changing to something else instead (which I didn't take a picture of - because I was running really late at this time). The skirt is currently at the cleaners but isn't this a darling skirt? I LOVE how poofy and fun it is.

I had lunch with P & C (the other 2 FFMs - Fashion Forward Managers) in my office. It was C's birthday. We went for Sushi. I LOVE Sushi and I can honestly say that I can eat it everyday! After lunch, P said that she wanted to get a Matcha Smoothie. What is a Matcha Smoothie? I ask P. P looked at me like I had been living under a rock. It was quite funny. She's a real sweetheart and she was now going to show me a Matcha Smoothie. She asks if I've ever had Green Tea Ice-Cream. Of course I have, I answered, and I LOVE it! She tells me that it tastes just like Green Tea ice-cream. I LOVE and I really mean, I LOVE green tea ice-cream and in my opinion, there's nothing in the world that can taste like Green Tea ice-cream .... that was, until... I tried a Matcha Smoothie from Muzi. Oh My Gosh! It's like a Green Tea Milk-Shake. It's amazing! Where in the world have I been???? I must have been living under a rock!

This evening, Hubby and I attended Kitty's year end concert. What a great concert it was! The show was called A Whale of a Tale and Kitty was one of the Acrobats in the show. All that gymnastics certainly paid off for she did these fantastic cartwheels on the stage. The kids did a phenomenal job singing and dancing and the costumes! They were amazing! Some of these kids have the most amazing voices as well. There were 3 soloists and they were fantastic! I certainly don't remember concerts like this when I was going to school.

Anyway, that's been my crazy life of late. It's going to be like this between now and the end of the school year for Kitty (which ends on June 12). I honestly hope I'll be able to last that long before I start unravelling at the seams.

Have a nice evening and Happy Friday everyone!

Today's Outfit - Pleated Garden Skirt, Corsage Tee, Chandelier Bracelet, Lea Cardigan, Juliet Midheels

My apologies that I haven't taken any IRL pictures lately. My computer is crap and I can't seem to down load pictures properly. But I will get it fixed soon. I promise. But here's what I wore today.
Firstly, I should mention that my skirt is actually Dark Pewter and not Bright Rhubarb (I own that as well but that's not what I wore today). I paired the skirt with the Corsage Tee in Navy and topped the outfit off with the Lea Cardigan also in Navy. For accessories, I'm wearing the Chandelier Bracelet - which I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! And on my feet - the Juliet Midheels.
Today was the first time I was wore the Pleated Garden Skirt in Dark Pewter. I love the look of the skirt. I got it a couple size larger than what I would normally wear so that it would sit lower on the waist. I'm glad I did for I just love the look.
Do you own the Pleated Garden Skirt? Do you like it? What do you wear with it?

Saje Giveaway Ends Today!

Just a reminder to my amazing readers who live in BC or in AB that my Saje Contest ends today. If you haven't entered, be sure to do so. Here's a secret: Everyone who enters will win! So, ... Go enter the contest! Contest can be found here.

Welcome My Friends!

I've been wanting to do this for a while now... that is, to welcome my new blog friends. But the reason I hadn't done it sooner is because I didn't know how to handle welcoming my new readers without also acknowledging everybody else.

And while I don't think I would have offended any one per se, to me, it just wouldn't feel right if I were to only welcome my new new friends without including my old. So, I've decided to welcome each and every one of you by name.

So, let me start by welcoming my new friends - that is, those who have recently started following me:

Welcome to my blog Sasha, Alisa, Melia, Angela, luvallthingsjcrew, Christyrenee, and jcbellemarie.

I would also like to extend a terribly belated welcome to all of my readers who have been following me since I started blogging. They are:

Congratulations Everyone!

Have you Swished?

The concept of Swishing is an intriguing one. Per Swishing.org, it's the art of getting your friends together to swap clothes and party at the same time. In order to attend a Swishing party, each participant is required to bring at least one (1) good quality, clean item of clothing, or an accessory, that she'd feel proud to hand on.

Doesn't it sound like fun?

Here's information from Swishing.org as to how to go about throwing a Swishing party.

Pre-Party Prep
Pick a Date
Decide where to have it
Download invitation from http://www.swishing.org/
Send it out to your friends and start plotting

Day of Party
If you have rails and hangers handy, put them out; if not, lay clothes out and them them over chairs, tables, ladders, etc. Get creative.
If you're up to it, prepare some nibblies.

How to Swish
As guests arrive, add their items to the growing pile of goodies.
Invite guests to spend some time rifling through the goodies ladi out over a glass of wine.
Decide on the starting time for the swish - maybe an hour or so after guests arrive.
Once most of the people have arrived, explain the rules and announce the start time.
Give a five minute warning for the start of the swish.
Countdown to the Opening of the Swish.
When it opens, whatever people take is theirs.

Swishing Rules
Everyone must bring at least one item of clothing; peole can leave with as many items as they want.
No one can claim items as their own before the swish opens.
And, no scrating, spitting or biting!

So, have you Swished? What do you think about Swishing? Have you or will you entertain the idea of hosting a Swishing Party?

Psssst! I have a crazy confession.

My husband caught me doing it again yesterday and so I finally admitted it to him that I really love ...

Are you ready?

...watching Dog the Bounty Hunter. I think that Leland and Duane Lee are both Bad Boy HOT! HOT! HOT!

For some reason, I think I might live to regret this confession.

I LOVE Freebies! Here's one from Tim Horton's!!!

Enjoy a FREE Tim Hortons Iced Latte!*

Kitty Update

Firstly, I should apologize for not being around the last couple of days. Secondly, I must thank each and everyone of you for all of your supportive comments. And lastly, I must tell you that my husband is thrilled that many of you took his side. :)

But I feel that I need to let you know what happened after all.

After blogging about the incident, Ashia called to discuss the party. I should preface by explaining that Ashia and I are polar opposites. Ashia, in my opinion, is very concerned about appearance - about what people think, say, do, etc. She's very conscious about who's who and keeping up with appearances. She never fails to name-drop or sidle up to a celebrity (there are a few celebrity kids who attend my daughter's school) at a school function. And if there's someone else better in the room to chat with she will automatically ditch the person she's speaking with and head to the more interesting person.

While I should be irked by her behavior, I cannot help but giggle at how silly she can get sometimes. But I digress. Anyway, she called on Friday evening to discuss Kitty's attendance at Alexis' birthday party. She explains that she had originally invited 3 other girls to the party (2 of them in Kitty's class - one of them being Kitty's best friend and another who does not go to school with the girls but is Alexis' best friend). She also went on to explain that at the last minute, she had decided to invite more girls from the class. One odd thing she said to me was, she had not expected many of the girls to attend Alexis' party since it was after all a long weekend. I found that statement most odd for if I was going to throw my daughter a party, I would want all of her friends to attend - as opposed to hoping that many wouldn't show up. I didn't take it personally for I have gotten to know what Ashia's like (after all, I've known of her and her for 4 years now). I ended up giving her the benefit of the doubt and so, Kitty attended Alexis' party.

I should also mention that I gave Kitty the choice of skipping the party and we could: 1.) Do something special together - just she and I. 2.) Go to a Spa by ourselves. 3.) Go do something else that we would enjoy. Kitty turned all that down. She just wanted to be with her friends. Seeing that Kitty is generally shy and the fact that she wants to be with her friends, I agreed to having her attend the party.

I picked Kitty up after 2 Innings in Baseball. I then drove her to Alexis where the Limo picked the girls up and drove them all to the Spa. There were a total of 10 girls. My husband and I picked Kitty up at 7pm and took her to a dinner party.

Despite the fact that she had to miss half of the ball-game and the fact that she had to leave early, Kitty had a fabulous time. She was thrilled to have attended her friend's party despite the fact that she could not stay until the very end. At the end of the day, it was about Kitty and not me. If it were me, I would simply not attend for my ego would have been bruised by a late invite but Kitty didn't see it that way and you know what, I'm okay with it.

At the start, it bothered me somewhat that Kitty had received a late invite - but at the end, I was cool with it. Kitty had a fabulous time. She wasn't made to feel like she was an after-thought. She was included in all the fun and that's what's most important, right?

I know that what I did was contrary to many of the valued opinions given to me. I hope I didn't offend any of you by doing the opposite. I value and appreciate your opinion and hope that you'll continue to tell me what's on your mind. In my eyes, I felt that the decision was Kitty's to make and so she did and that's what happened.

However, we did learn a couple of really important lessons from this.

1.) If you're going to have a small party, ensure that your child does not discuss party plans at school.

2.) If your child hears about a party and does not get invited, it is going to break your heart but like everything else, they'll get over it. It is after all a small speed-bump in the course of their entire social life. Kitty understands that now.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful support on this! Have a wonderful evening!

Poor Little Kitty, My Absolutely Crazy Kitty Dilemma and... what's happened to Shasta of Bergdorf Blondes???

As you know, my daughter Kitty (not her real name) is 9 years old. She came home from school yesterday in a bit of a funk. When I asked her what was bothering her, she said nothing… even though I knew that something was up. But knowing that she tends to clam-up when I push too hard, I thought I’d leave it alone.

Then she asked “Mommy, am I busy this weekend?” I didn’t quite understand her question so I asked her to explain. She said, “Mommy, am I playing ball this weekend?” I told her, I didn’t know. My husband, her dad, is the baseball coach and he’s in charge of the ball schedule. When I asked why she wanted to know, she said… in a somewhat teary voice… “Alexia is having a birthday party this weekend. The girls are all going in a Limo to a spa and she didn’t invite me.” I asked her how she’d come to know about this, she replied, “Alexia told the class about it on Wednesday. And when I asked her why I wasn’t invited, she told me that she thought that I was busy. Am I busy this weekend, Mommy?”

My heart was absolutely breaking for my little girl. Kitty has never ever experienced rejection before. Kitty’s one of those girls whom all other girls gravitate towards. She’s a brilliant child with a quiet personality - much preferring to play with one or two girls at most. She hates the spotlight and shies away from being the centre of attention. But for some reason, many girls want to be Kitty’s friend. I truly thank God for this for she would have no friends if they didn’t gravitate towards her – for we all know that she won’t gravitate towards them.

Kitty then went on to tell me, “I really don’t think Alexia wants me at her party because she acted like she didn’t care about me.” At which point, she burst into tears. This absolutely broke my heart. I tried my darndest to console her but she was inconsolable. I tried explaining to her that not everyone gets invited to every party but that didn’t help. For the first time ever in my life – there was nothing I could say to stop Kitty from crying. She was so hurt. In her very own words, she said “she felt rejected.” And it was the rejection that hurt the most.

We chatted again this morning and she was doing much better. She had gotten over the hurt and pain of her first ever rejection. She understood and accepted Alexis’ decision not to invite her. She also learnt that thing won’t always go her way and she was fine with that.

Interestingly, Alexis’ mother Ashia emailed me this morning inviting Kitty to Alexis’ birthday party. I received the invite with mixed emotions. On one hand I was thrilled for Kitty – for Alexis is a friend of hers and they have play dates often (however – Ashia and I are not remotely close), but on the other I cannot help but wonder if Ashia’s invite was out of guilt or possibly pity. I would hate for anyone to invite Kitty out of pity.

Knowing how much Kitty wanted to go to the party, I emailed Ashia and advised her that Kitty would love to attend…. Only to find out late this afternoon from my darling husband that Kitty has to play ball after all. ARGH! The ballgame is at 2pm and runs to 3:30pm. Alexis’ party starts at 3pm – the girls are getting picked up by Limo at 3pm to be driven from West Vancouver to Coquitlam to the Spa then it’s off to dinner. Ashia expects that the party will wind down at 8:30pm. Problem is, the 3 of us (Hubby, Kitty and I) have a Dinner Party to attend at 6pm.

WHAT DO I DO??????

Hubby thinks that Kitty should just ditch the party.

I think that Kitty should ditch Ball and go to the party and we should pick her up at before dinner so that the 3 of us can go to the Dinner Party.

I haven’t asked Kitty what she thinks yet. I’m sure she’ll want to ditch the ball game as well as the dinner party and just attend the b’day party.

What do you think Kitty should do? This is all driving me nuts!!!

On a completely different note, one of my favorite blogs – Bergdorf Blondes, is no longer available. I know that Shasta had said that she was going Private and to email her if I wanted to continue following her. But when I clicked on her link, I found that her blog had disappeared! Where in the world is Shasta Bergdorf Blondes? Shasta, if you’re reading this, please drop me a line to tell me that you’re okay.

SnowBells - Twisted Double Wave Pearl Cluster Necklace

I'm not overly thrilled with my pictures - I really should have taken this necklace on a dark background so that the necklace stands out more - but I can't help but want to share my latest creation with you.

I was thrilled to have found these amazing twisted double wave Chain Beads at Beading Convention here in Vancouver a couple of weekends back and came up with my version of J Crew's Cherry Blossom Necklace with elegant clusters of glass pearls.

This necklace may be worn alone, layered with another piece or double-wrapped around the neck for a choker style necklace.

So, what do you think of my latest creation? As gigofca would say, Likey or No Likey? :)

Let them eat Gauteau!

I am really loving the layered look. The first layered look is from J Crew - the Gauteau Skirt. It's soooo cute, I could just eat it up!

I wasn't sold on the skirt the first time I laid eyes on it online. I thought that it was just another full skirt offered by J Crew - even though it had the cute gauteau layers in it. Then I saw it in person when I visited U Village. I tried the skirt on - not because I thought it was cute (for it really didn't look at cute on the hanger) - but for the sole purpose of being able to review it.

However, once I had it on, I knew that I had to have it. It was just darling! The layers made the skirt poof out - which makes my waist look smaller than it really is and helps downplay my hips and thighs.

I purchased this skirt in a size 4. While I could wear a size 2, I wanted the skirt somewhat longer in length and the larger waist allowed the skirt to sit somewhat lower on my waist. I purchased it in the Champagne shade. I really liked the Bright Fuschia but I already own the Nicky Skirt in that color. The color I really wanted was the bright orange shade but the store didn't carry the skirt in that shade. Regardless, I'm loving this skirt and although I already own a Champagne colored skirt in the Silk Dupioni, the Gauteau skirt is so different that it really wouldn't hurt to have a similar color in a different style.

The second layered look is from Banana Republic. It's the Layered Blouse in a bright Aqua shade. I didn't think much of this shirt the first time I saw it in the store but then I thought about the Gauteau skirt and how cute it looked on so I decided to give it a try. And I'm glad I did for it looks super cute on!

This 100% silk blouse is dreamy soft, light-weight, and not at all see through. It has a boatneck neckline, short sleeves and 5 flirty layers. And while the blouse is layered, it does have a slightly defined waist - thus giving me a bit of a figure - as opposed to having a classic cut that tends to make me look stump-like. I just love the flirty layers on the blouse.

I should also mention that it does not have any buttons or zippers - meaning you have to don this by sliding it over your head. Despite the fact that I have a large head and this blouse is an XS, I didn't have any trouble putting it on. Once on, it fits nicely over my chest with some room to spare. I certainly wouldn't size up. The XS was a perfect fit - sizing up would have made this blouse way too lose and would look sloppy.

As I've said earlier in this post, I'm really loving the layered look. It's pretty, feminine and is a nice change from the traditional ruffles.

Have you tried or do you own the Gauteau Skirt? How about the BR Layered Blouse? Do you like them? Please feel free to share your thoughts on this layered trend.

It feels like a break-up..... sob!

First of all, I must apologize to my fellow bloggers for being MIA of late. It's been a little hard having to juggle my work, my home, my daughter's activities, work-out, follow the Canucks and blog all at the same time.

In short, my life's been a little too insane... something had to give and unfortunately, it was my blog - but after last night's heartbreak, I have one less thing on my plate and my life seems a little more sane all of a sudden. But.... my heart feels like it's been ripped out of my chest, thrown on the floor and rolled over by a Zamboni several times into a thousand little bits.

The Canucks' loss to the Blackhawks, thus eliminating them from the Stanley Cup playoffs feels like I've just suffered a break-up with a boyfriend. I'm sad, very, very, sad.

I honestly thought that this was the year that the boys were going to bring home the cup. They showed such promise. It's like meeting "the one". "The One" whom you clicked with, had such fun with, got along great with their friends and family. And all of a suddenly, he tells you, I'm sorry, it's over. That what it feels like. It feels like the love-affair I had with the Canucks are suddenly over and now I'm left to pick up the pieces all by myself.

I had such hopes and dreams for them. I was soooooo sure that this was the year. This was the year we were going to win the Stanley Cup. And.... now it's all over. It's heartbreaking. I'm heart-broken.

But when I look back, it sure was a fun and fantastic year. There were high highs and low lows. I jumped off the bandwagon and back on again at each and every pot hole on the road to the Stanley Cup. But that's the passion I have for the sport. I have difficulty containing my enthusiasm and disappointments; I was proud when we won and sulked in sorrow at a loss. My passion and my competitive nature makes for a high combustible combination. I'm that crazed fan at the game - the one who's screaming and yelling, waving her towel over her head. My poor husband. Thankfully we've been together for over 13 years and we've attended many a games together so he knows exactly what to expect. I can't watch a game the way my husband does - with such composure and so little emotion.... and it drives me nuts when he turns to say, "Honey, relax" - to which I would respond... "RELAX? WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN RELAX???!!! THAT'S A $#@%ING BULL-SHIT CALL!".

But it was a awesome year. It was a lot of fun and I'm very proud of our boys. I was very fortunate to have attended a dozen games (all in the Suites) this year and 3 in the post season.

But like every breakup, I need time to heal. I'm sure I'll be back to my old self in a matter of days but right now, the wound is fresh and I'm in mourning.

But I'm sure we'll be back again next year with a bigger and stronger team. Maybe next year, we'll come closer to winning the Cup.

Inspired by J Crew Havona Tank - One of my latest - Tropical Sea-Glass Cluster Bracelet

Please pardon my crappy pictures. I am in the midst of getting new pictures done for this bracelet but I've been dying to share my newest creation - so here it is - crappy pictures and all.

My inspiration for this bracelet is the J Crew Havona Tank. I love the weight of the material, the style of the tank (including floppy flower and all) and certainly the combination of the Golden Avocado and Deep Aqua.

Although I received my Tank about 2 months ago, I have yet to wear it - primarily because it hasn't warmed up enough to wear. But I've certainly pictured myself wearing it with a pair of White High-Heeled Flares for a more casual look or with a light shade pencil skirt for a dressier look. While I had the perfect outfit in my mind, I couldn't seem to locate the perfect piece of jewelry to complement it. I knew that I wouldn't be wearing a necklace, nor would I wear earrings for both would get lost next to the print on the Havona or worse case senario, detract from the beautiful design of the Havona Tank. I knew that the perfect piece would have to be a bracelet - but it couldn't be just any ol' bracelet. I knew that the perfect piece would have to enhance and compliment the colors in the Havona Tank. And in the end, I came up with this combination of Czech Glass beads of various shades and sizes and Rhinestone Fireballs.

So, what do you think of my Tropical Sea-Glass Cluster Bracelet? Do you think it complements the Havona? Personally, I think it'll go with lots more than just the Havona - I can certainly see myself wearing this with White, Golden Avocado, Aqua, Breeze, Citron... the list goes on.

Banana Republic: Get $30 Shop Card Everytime you spend $125

Now through May 10, Get a $30 Shop Card EVERYTIME you spend $125 at BR!

This is certainly incentive for me to shop at BR. However, I wonder what the limitations are, ie. When can I spend my Shopcard? And, how much do I need to buy in order to use my Shop Card. None of these are addressed in BR's email.

One other thing.... in small print, it says that this is only valid in Canada.

For my fellow Canadian Bloggers, will you be partaking in this promotion? Wishful thinking on my part, I long for the day that they would offer a similar promotion at Club Monaco. There's sooooo much I want at CM!!!

More J Crew Reviews - Jane Ottoman Pencil Skirt, Kelly Belt and Tuxedo Front Solid Cotton Cami

Here's 3 more items I purchased during my last trip to Bellevue and to U-Village.

The first is the Linen Ottoman Jane Pencil Skirt in Bright Coral. I fell in-love with this color the moment I laid eyes on it. It's rather corally as you can see from the picture but it's certainly not neony at all. I think it'll be a fun color to wear in the Spring and Summer, and depending on what I pair it with, I might be able to get away with it in the Fall as well.

The skirt fits very much like the other J Crew Pencil skirts I've tried on - meaning it's quite slim through the hip and thighs but somewhat generous through the waist. Unlike the Gladiola Print Skirt that has some stretch to it, this one has no stretch whatsoever. And unlike the Gladiola Print Skirt that is unlined, the Ottoman Jane Pencil Skirt is fully lined. Both have an overlapped Flap Vent in the back.

Since this skirt has no stretch to it whatsoever, and really since it was the last one in the store ... hence I didn't quite have a choice anyway, I purchased it in the size 4. Just for reference's sake, I purchased the Gladiola Print skirt in a size 2. I think the size 4 works on me in this case - as it gives me the room I need through the hips and the thighs since there's no give. However, it's rather generous in the waist. I thought about getting it altered but I don't think I'm going to worry to much about that since it's really only about an inch or so larger than I'd like it and having a meal would completely minimize the inch difference anyway. LOL! The skirt was an awesome deal. With the Red Card that Joan gave me here, I ended up paying $22.49 plus taxes for this skirt. Now, isn't that a score???

I also purchased the belt that is shown worn with the skirt in the picture. It's called the Printed Cotton Blend Kelly Belt. I was originally drawn to it because I desperately needed a belt to go with my new Tulip Pink Bennetton Jeans I had purchased several weeks ago. Originally I had intended to wear a scarf-belt with my jeans but having searched everywhere and not find the perfect scarf, I decided that I would do without a belt .... that was until I laid my eyes on this belt. It's perfect! I LOVE the colors. Tulip Pink, Golden Avocado and Bright Coral are splashed on a Champagne background. The combination makes this a wonderful addition to my wardrobe for it'll match with so much that I already own. The belt was on sale for $19.99 and with my discount card, it came to $14.99 and I didn't have to continue searching for a scarf-belt. That's a real bonus!

The third and last time being reviewed in this post is the Tuxedo Front Solid Cotton Cami. BTW, please pardon the fact that my bra strap is showing in this picture. I realize that I am wearing the WRONG bra with this top. I obviously need a different bra.

This Cami comes in White (which I purchased), Bronzed Sand, Light Pewter and Bright Fuschia. It also comes in a Cheetah Print Fresh Melon. I've been needing a White fitted sleeveless cami for some time. I needed one specifically for my Club Monaco skirt that I've had a while now but have yet to wear it because I didn't have a suitable top to match with it.

The material on the Cami is quite thin but not sheer as you can see from the picture. It has a side zipper but no closure for the neck - so in all honesty, it's a bit of a challenge getting into this cami for it would be very easy to get make-up on the cami either when you're putting the cami on or taking it off (and since it's dry-clean only, I can see this being a real challenge). I either have to put my makeup on after I don the top or, stick a scarf over my face when I put on or take off this top so as to not get makeup on it. Kinda sucks if you were to ask me but I was desperate for a top to wear with my Club Monaco skirt.

I love the unfinished edge ruffles on this top. There are 3 layers of ruffles around the neck as well as ruffles part way down the front. There are also 8 columns of pleats down the front which addes additional interest and detail. I also like the fit of the cami. I like the fact that it's a slim cut and thus is fitted as opposed to a classic-cut and is bellowy - which lends itself to tucking into skirts or pants easily.

That all said, I haven't quite decided if I'm going to keep the Tuxedo Front Solid Cotton Cami. I have ordered the Cotton Silk Ruffle Swirl Tank as well - and it's on it's way to me as we speak. Once it arrives, I will then decide which to keep and which to return. While I love almost all aspects of the Tuxedo Front Cami, I'm not loving the fact that the neck opening is small and that there is a risk that I may get make-up on it and then have to spend a small fortune to have it dry-cleaned after each wearing.

Do you own or have you tried the Tuxedo Front Solid Cotton Cami? What do you think of it? How do you like the neck opening? Do you find it to be a pain as I have?

Anyway, that's my J Crew Review. I've got more items to post - so be sure to check back again.

And The Winner Is.....

I wanted to ensure that the winner selection was completely unbiased yet I wasn't prepared to roll up a bunch of little pieces of paper and stick it in a bag so that I may randomly pick one. So after some thought, I decided that I would come up with an ingenious way to randomly select a winner with very little effort on my part.

So this is what I did. I went into the Games Closet, pulled out my box of Scrabble, unfolded the opaque black bag that contained all the letters and pulled out one tile ... THE WINNING TILE.

(Don't you just love my high-tech winner selection tool?) Yes I know... kinda lame. lol!

But before I did this, I gave each post / entry a letter - starting with the letter A for the very first post / entry and ending with the letter N for the last post / entry.

The tile I pulled was the letter B and that correspondes to ..... Drum-Roll Please.... CHLOE of The Chloe Conspiracy.

I love Chloe's Blog and truly enjoy reading it. So I'm absolutely thrilled for her that she won! If you haven't had a chance to check out her blog, please be sure to do so here.

So, Congratulations Chloe for being the winner of my very First Ever Give-Away. Please send me an email at: mydelightfulobsessions@gmail.com with your name and address and I'll ship these yummy Truffles out to you for your enjoyment.

Congratulations once again Chloe! And thank you everyone for taking the time to share your wonderful stories and participate in my first ever giveaway. Since I had a blast doing it, I may just do another giveaway again!

More J Crew Reviews

I would have posted yesterday but it was insanely busy .... INSANELY!

I was up by 6:30am, was out the door by 7am to go Grocery Shopping, home at 9am - to let the Cleaners in, then out again - to BR, the Bay and the Bead Store. Was home by 11:45am to say good-bye to the Cleaning ladies, grabbed a quick lunch then out the door again to pick Kitty up from her Baseball Tournament (0f which Hubby was coaching all day and could not get away from it) to drive her to her school's spring fair. We were at the Spring Fair for slightly over 2 hours and then I had to drive Kitty across town to my parents, where she was spending the night. I then raced home to change for the Canucks game to only see them lose last night. It was heart-breaking in a crazy, crazy day! We were home by 9:30pm, in bed by 10pm and slept absolutely soundly until this morning! Man, I was bagged!!!

Today ought to be as crazy as yesterday as well. I thought I would blog early for I have to be out the door in about 40 minutes, pick Kitty up from my parents, take her to the Norwesters' Track Meet today and depending on how she does, if she qualifies - then she'll be in the finals and if she doesn't, then I will have to take her to the last game of her Weekend Baseball Tournament. Then it's off to the Bead Convention and then home again to make Dinner and get ready for the week. I haven't left the house yet and already I'm feeling really tired hearing what I've got to do today! ARGH!

So, back to my J Crew reviews. Here are things that I tried on, loved and purchased.

The first is the Solid Three-Quarter Sleeve Stretch Shirt in Fresh Mint. I had first seen this shirt on Gigiofca on her blog here and thought that the color combination was fantastic with the skirt. While I LOVE the color of the shirt, I don't know if I would wear it often with the Gladiola Pencil Skirt - the only reason being that I think I like the Slate better - but at least, it'll give me an option to wear with the skirt. I purchased it in a size 2. I can see it pulling slightly in the front - that's because I've got a super-duper push-up padded bra on. I sure that it won't pull as badly with a different bra on. I like the fit and particularly the color. I can easily see myself wearing this shirt with jeans, full-leg pants and pencil skirts.

I LOVE the Gladiola Print Pencil Skirt. While I can't wear unstructured, flimsy, silky type fabric pencil skirts, I can sooooo wear structured ones - meaning ones with more weight to the fabric - particularly when they have no sheen to them. I love everything about this skirt. The print is bright and cheery - just perfect for either a cloudy or sunny Spring / Summer day. I love the fact that the fabric has a small percentage of Elastane which allows me to move freely in a form-fitting pencil skirt. Here I have the Gladiola Print skirt paired with the Slub Cotton Scoopneck Tee (which I had to wait 7 weeks to receive - for they were backordered).

BTW, I love this slub cotton Scoopneck Tee as well - not as much as I love the Corsage Tee but the Corsage Tee didn't come in Slate and I really wanted the Slate to wear with the Gladiola Print Pencil Skirt so I didn't have a choice but to get it.

While I would love to blog more right now, I have to run to go pick Kitty up.

But before leaving, I have a question, which top (ie style and color) do you like better with the Gladiola Print Skirt, the tailored Fresh Mint or the more casual Slate?

Have an awesome day everyone. Will post more soon! Again, don't forget to enter the contest if you haven't done so already!!!

GIVEAWAY ENDS TOMORROW!!!

Just a reminder to everyone who haven't yet entered, my First Ever Giveaway ends tomorrow evening at 6pm Pacific Standard Time.

So, if you haven't yet shared your best score, your greatest find, your most amazing deal, please be sure to share it here and I will draw one (1) winner and post the Winner's name on my blog by 8pm PST.

Those Chocolates are super yummy! I'm sure you'll enjoy them as much as I have!!!

Good Luck!!!

J Crew Reviews - Charmeuse Pencil Skirt, Vintage Shirt, Vintage Slim Jeans, & Perfect Fit Corsage Scoop Neck Tee

Here are a couple of bad pictures I took during my last trip to J Crew. As previously mentioned, I did manage to try on a whole lot of things but was only able to take a few pictures for fear of 1.) Tying up the fitting room because the store was packed and there was a line-up. 2.) The shutter on my camera is fairly loud and I did want to be asked why I was taking pictures. Anyway, here are a few of the items I tried on.

Vintage Shirt and Charmeuse Pencil Skirt

Sorry, I don't know the name of this shirt - though I did notice on the tag that it was from J Crew's Vintage line. It's a light summer fitted shirt in a cotton lawn fabric with the prettiest tucking down the front, trim around the collar plus on the sleeves. I tried on the size 2 and it fitted nicely. For comparison purposes, I wear between a size 2 and size 4 shirt - depending on the style. Although I liked the style of the shirt, I didn't buy it because it wasn't screaming, buy-me, take-me-home! It was darling but not enough for me to buy it. (If anyone knows the name of this shirt, would you be so kind and let me know? TIA!)

I seldom look good in unstructured skirts - particularly one that has a sheen and the fabric is somewhat thin. The Charmeuse Pencil skirt further confirmed that I don't look good in such skirts. The most annoying thing about this skirt was that the sheen of the fabric showed every bulge and every lump on my hip and thighs. Since I am short, the skirt was also designed too long on me. I didn't like this skirt at all so naturally, it was a no-go.

Vintage Slim Jean in Worn-In Wash

I've been wanting to try these Vintage Slim Jeans for a while now and I'm glad I did because I didn't like them one bit. I normally wear a size 28 Jeans. As you can see, I have on the a Size 28 and they were HUGE on me. I didn't find the legs to be slim. In fact, these jeans reminded me of the ones I wore in the 80s when they were fitted through the hips and baggier through the legs. I also hated how high the rise was on me. They were absolutely hedious and gawd-awful.

Distressed Vintage Slim Jean in Antique Destroyed Wash

I also had the opportunity to try on J Crew's latest Distressed Vintage Slim Jean with the slashed knee. Oh My Gosh! Again, I didn't like these one bit on me. I've come to the conclusion that a this style leg does absolutely nothing for me for it makes me look short and stumpy. I also really didn't like the slash at the knee for I literally put my foot through the slash while trying on the jeans.

Perfect Fit Corsage Scoop Neck Tee

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this tee! In fact, I love it even more than the Slub Cotton Scoop Neck Tee that I had finally received in the mail - having waited 2 months for a back order. The fabric is amazingly soft and has a nice weight to it (it is neither too thin nor too thick - in fact, it's perfect!). I love the flower corsage appliques at the neck and how the scoopneck sits on my chest for it's neither too low nor too high. The price too was a huge selling point for me! This tee is $29.50 compared to the Slub Cotton Scoop Neck Tee at $39.50. And since I was also able to apply my 25% off Red Card to this item, the Tee came to $22.13! What a deal!

I tried on both the Small and the X-Small. Both fit nicely. I purchased 5 colors in this tee - the Breeze, Natural, Beechwood and the Amethyst in Smalls and the Navy in the X-Small. You see, I have a thing about my back fat. I don't have much actually but what little I have, I don't like and I hate it even more if they show under my tees - particularly light colored tees. Anyway, the store was sold out of the Breeze and the Amethyst so I had to order those on the Red Phone. The CSR I spoke with honored my 25% Red Card plus threw in Free Shipping to boot. I was absolutely thrilled. I have yet to wear this tee however, I plan to wear the Natural tomorrow night to the Canucks / Blackhawks game. Go Canucks!

Anyway, that's it for this post. Have a nice evening! I will post and write more over the weekend. Have an awesome weekend all!!!
